December 2013 Events
This is the eighth edition of Elektor Magazine to hit shelves in 2013 and we’ve got some thrilling stuff in store for you. Due to an overabundance of content in September’s issue, we were forced to hold off publication of our Xmega Web Server Board project until this month. This AVR powerhouse is well suited to Monitoring and Control applications and the plug-in TCP/IP module allows you to implement a web server and other network-oriented applications. This month we decided to have a bit of fun with the 8x8 Two-Color Matrix project, and offer an alternative method of driving a matrix consisting of a vast number of LEDs whilst only using a few I/O lines from a microcontroller.
November 2013
To keep things exciting, we even try our hand at programming a game which allows us to direct an LED across the matrix using a joystick! Our third stirring highlight for this month’s magazine involves combining contemporary microcontroller technology and ex-Soviet Numitron tubes to create a Numitron Clock & Thermometer, developed on the Arduino platform. Engineered towards publication via our community Elektor.Labs website, with all development code freely available, this is a project we’re very proud to be publishing.
