Nexus One Wifi Radio

  • Jan 06, 2010 We've already told you everything you need to know about the Nexus One. Still, you might be curious to see Google's self-proclaimed 'superphone' splayed.
  • Jan 06, 2010 Brandon’s going to be doing a review of the Nexus One soon, but some daring soul already tore down the Nexus One to reveal the handset’s innards.

As of last couple of weeks, my phone has been having problems automatically switching between wifi and 3G. When i leave home, I have to completely turn off the radio.

I'm sad got by N7 16Gb a week ago and enjoyed it a lot. Today, getting it I saw the wifi was off. I went to the setting to turn it back on and it stayed at 'turning on wi-fi' message. I tried to put it in airplane mode and out of it.

I tried soft reset I tried a factory reset I tried to drain the battery out and charge it. Still the same. I am now at the google nexus welcome wizard, page 2 where it ask to choose a wifi, and again I see the 'turning on wi-fi' message. I cant seem to get it to connect to wifi. (or even to turn on its wifi) anyone have seen the same issue? I've searched google but I have not found anyone with that issue.

I really dont want to return it as it does not have any of the other known issues. But without wifi, it is now an expensive paper holder.

I agree with seVer and Binary Visions. It looks like the Nexus cant turn on its own internal wifi radio. I got the unit less than 7 days ago and (call me crazy ) but I kept it in its original plastic wrap until I receive my screen protector. I also tried to give it a full charge and hope it may have been a low battery situation with its wifi.

Still stuck at 'Turning on wi-fi' Since I did a hard reset, the unit is completely reformatted and I am going through the welcome wizard: page 1 select the language, page 2 select the wifi network. I cant skip page 2.

So it is not other widgets or apps that may be causing this. I went away for a day and the unit spend 24 hours without seeing its home wifi.

When I came back home, wifi was off. Turning it gack on gave me that message. With that wifi issue, the Nexus was still fully (less any internet depending apps) functional. But not very useful It was never dropped or bumped and kept in its box. This is really strange. Since it is brand new and under warranty, I wont risk any rom flashing.

I'm going to call Google tomorrow and get a replacement. Thanks for the help and suggestions, I'll followup if I find anything else. Other might get the same issue. I was temped to reflash the image as suggested by binary visions but decided that since I had the tablet for less than 168 hours, I would give Google support a try. I spoke with someone within 2 minutes and in less than 5 I had a RMA and a replacement on its way.

The guy was very nice and told me that sometime the hard reset have issues. I have a feeling reflashing the image might have fixed it, but since the tablet still smelled the google factory, I would not bother and get a replacement. Now I'm back (anxioulsy) waiting for my shipping email once again finger crossed Daniel. Click to expand.I assume you mean load a custom ROM as El Presidente mentioned. First, you will need to find one (with instructions) specific to your version of Galaxy Nexus. Go to this forum: and at either to top of the page or the bottom you will see three additional forums: (International / GSM) Galaxy Nexus - All Things Root (Verizon) Galaxy Nexus - All Things Root (Sprint) Galaxy Nexus - All Things Root You need to make sure you choose the correct version as loading the wrong one could damage your phone.

Same goes loading up a ROM from this forum as these are specific to the Nexus 7. Once you are in the correct forum start a thread asking how to load a custom rom and I'm sure someone will give you a hand. In the meantime, I am going to close this thread to prevent confusion and you accidentally loading an incorrect ROM.

Hey android friends, I got a problem with my wifi and bluetooth. I bought the nexus one off of someone. The nexus one is rooted with modaco rom and when I went to try to use wifi, it didnt work and when i tried to use bluetooth, it didnt work too.

So i thought to myself. The guy who rooted this phone must of did some wrong for me not to have wifi or bluetooth. So I thought it was the rom, so I rooted it back to stock shipping rom.

The bluetooth and wifi button on the home screen turn on (like a dark green and it never turns bright green like all the other buttons-well bluetooth turns dark green and then goes back to black and wifi turn dark green and stays like that until i click on it again to shut it off)before that when the Modaco rom was in. The wifi dark green would just stay dark and u can't turn it off and the wifi did the same-turn on and turn back to black. I was wondering what could be wrong. I talked to a google tech and asked him if it could be the hardware and he says the wifi and bluetooth are two different chips and its odd and rare that both would go. So i'm thinking I missing something when I rooted the phone back to stock. I rooted the system.img userdata.img, boot.img and recovery.img. I was wondering does the radio.img have to do anything with it(cause i didnt root that).

Will that give me my wifi and bluetooth back. Please help and sorry for long story. Have to make it clear for everyone to understand. Thanks in advance. Hey android friends, I got a problem with my wifi and bluetooth.

Portable Wifi Radio

Please help and sorry for long story. Have to make it clear for everyone to understand. Thanks in advance. Click to expand. It will be either the Desire ROM or perhaps, the radio image that was installed with it - may not be compatible with the Stock ROM.

What I would do at this stage is this.go to Modaco's site and download a complete ROM (including the Radio image) - I recommend the Froyo ROM with Radio, as this works fine for me and is stable. If you download the Froyo ROM from the kitchen, you will also install the market fix so that you can access all the paid apps.

In my experience, the one thing that didn't work properly is the Adobe Flash app but I reinstalled this from a Titanium Backup I took from a previous stock Froyo ROM. Flashing them both together with Paul's.zip bundle works well for me. Just make sure your phone is fully charged & wipe everything in Recovery before you flash. Titanium backup Apps, etc. Thanks for the help, so basically your saying that i might have the wrong radio.img because I checked.

Wifi Clock Radio

And I think I have the desire radio.img(not sure if it is but when I went to look it up, it says it was the desire radio.img) the radio.img i have now is 32.36.00.28U4.06.00.12.7 Please tell me if thats a desire radio.img because right now I am on froyo 2.2 which i forgot to mention(sorry everyone) what is froyo radio.img I need that if that's the cause of my wifi/bluetooth not working. Thanks in advance and thanks Daffyduck.

Thanks in advance and thanks Daffyduck. Thanks DaffyDuck, I got some questions. If I re-flash everything back to stock again(ERD79) from Modaco, Do i have to flash everything that is in the zip file. I know I have to flash System.img, Boot.img, Recovery.img and Userdata.img but do I have to flash MicropPassionPassion#CLEDV0B1488V20091203.img, Radio1202220091214SignedPASSION.img, Spcustom.img, Splash1.img and how would I go and do that. Cause thats long.

Stations

I know with like system, boot, recovery and Userdata is fastboot flash system system.img and the others etc but I dont know about the Microp, Radio,Spcustom and Splash1 since they are long so I wouldnt know where to start( do i type the whole thing or is there a shorter way). Thanks in advance and you've been a big help. I would firstly try to flash the leaked Froyo ROM, as I know that works well enough to use as a day-to-day ROM. Download from this link & flash the complete file (the with radio version - 1st link on the page): Place it on the root of your sd card.

Then in recovery, wipe all options and then flash the Zip file. This way, you get a complete rom and radio installed fresh. Then, we see if your wifi and bluetooth work. Note: with this rom, you may lose the ability to run rooted apps (there is a file to flash to fix this) plus, paid apps will be lost from the market (but there is a way around this if you want to keep Froyo).
